Time on the water is critical to becoming a great skipper. We aim to maximise your ‘hands-on’ training, ensuring you experience as many activities as possible to build knowledge and skill. 

Our Instructors

Shane Cole – Yachtmaster Instructor

With over 20 years as an instructor, Shane eagerly shares his extensive knowledge and experience with his clients. He is passionate about boating and enjoys the water on anything from a paddleboard to yachts.
Shane creates an engaging learning environment where clients can develop their skills and confidence on the water.

Debbie Cole – Centre Co-ordinator

With a keen interest in boating and 17 years of experience running RYA centres, Debbie advises on all our RYA-accredited courses. She instructs both on the water and in the classroom, including VHF and First Aid Courses.
Debbie will be your first point of contact, ready to assist with any questions you may have. 

Steve Flood – Principal and Chief Instructor

Steve opened the centre in 2012 with the aim of using his 30-plus years of experience to create a nurturing environment for aspiring sailors. 

His extensive background in teaching and examining for the Royal Yachting Association makes him the perfect instructor to train new skippers and develop our clients’ skills. His passion not only fosters skill development but also instils a love for the water in every student.

Jordan Guy – Milebuidling Captain

With a strong background in marine engineering and a lifelong love for the sea, Jordan has always been passionate about life on and around the water. His interest in marine engineering comes naturally from that connection, and over the years, he has built valuable experience and knowledge in the field. Friendly, reliable, and easy to work with, Jordan enjoys being part of a team and brings a genuine enthusiasm for everything related to the marine world.

Jake Finnon – Milebuidling Captain

Having joined the team this year, he brings with him a strong passion for the ocean and a background in dinghy sailing. Spending so much time on the water has given him a real appreciation for teamwork, learning, and life at sea. Enthusiastic and keen to get involved, he’s excited to be part of the team and continue building his experience around something he genuinely enjoys.
